When Tony was taken to a shelter by animal control officers, his right front leg was severely injured, and he could barely put any pressure on it. He would walk with his other legs and let the broken one dangle. But his injury did not affect his demeanor. He was an adorable and affectionate canine, and the shelter staff adored him.
One of the workers knew Tony shouldn’t be in their facility and needed help for his broken leg. So she called one of her friends, a foster volunteer from an animal charity organization, and asked her to come and get the loving pooch. She accepted.
Love at first sight
Tony was brought to an animal clinic to see if the leg could still be saved. It was so deformed it seemed like it was broken in several places. Thankfully, the vet said they could still fix the problem.
While the foster volunteer was waiting for Tony to have a temporary splint, one of the vet techs approached her. She said that she and the dog formed a bond while they were examining him. She wondered if the sweet pooch already had a foster family.
At that time, the foster mom said she would be taking in Tony, but she already had more than enough rescue dogs temporarily staying with her. So they both agreed that the vet tech would care for the injured canine.
All good
Tony moved in with her new foster mom and her husband. He fitted well with his temporary family, especially with his new canine playmate, a rescue dog as well. The injured pooch was playful and energetic, even with his leg in a sprint. He loved playing tug of war and cuddling with his foster parents.
After getting his surgery, Tony showed significant signs of progress. After almost two months, they removed his cast. The kind vet tech and his husband made a decision. They adored having the dog around and wanted to make the situation permanent. Before long, they were signing the adoption papers.
