Woman Rescues Injured Homeless Dog That Loves Cheeseburgers

Hope for Paws is a well-known animal rescue organization that provides aid to animals in need. One day, they received a message about a wounded dog from a man named Ernesto, who spotted a dog stumbling and bleeding in front of his house.

Who doesn’t love cheeseburgers?

Ernesto stared at the dog for a few moments before he realized he needed to take the dog in while he waited for rescue. Fortunately, JoAnn Wiltz, a rescue volunteer, wasted no time and went straight to Ernesto and the dog.

When JoAnn arrived on the scene, she was surprised by how calm and gentle the injured dog was. She named the dog  Hippo and offered him a cheeseburger. Hippo devoured the treat and momentarily forgot about his wounds.

Hippo the gentle giant

Hippo had no hesitation in approaching JoAnn and devouring the goodies she brought for him. He was such a well-behaved and pleasant dog the entire time, suggesting that he was already quite comfortable around people.

JoAnn and Ernesto speculated that the poor puppy had been hit by a car, but he didn’t appear to have any broken bones. She needed to get Hippo to the doctor as soon as possible so that his wounds could be treated.

Ernesto said his goodbyes as he helped with getting Hippo into JoAnn’s. They arrived at the clinic, where the nurses were taken aback by how kind and friendly Hippo was despite his road burn, which was most likely caused by being hit by a vehicle.

The vets established that the dog was between the ages of five and six and that he was overweight, which caused him to overheat. He was grateful for the volunteers’ kindness and the refreshing bath they gave him. Hippo was relieved to be rescued from the wild and placed in a loving setting.
