Thousands of strays require permanent loving homes. Many of these dogs were neglected and abused by their previous owners, making it difficult for them to trust humans again. However, there are still compassionate individuals who will do whatever they need to do to rescue these wonderful animals and find them permanent, loving homes.
Lindsay was traveling through the desert when she came across a German Shepherd. Lindsay thought that her family had abandoned the German Shepherd as no one was in the vicinity. Lindsay determined that the dog would not survive if left alone in the desert, so she decided to rescue it and find it a loving home.
However, the German Shepherd was rather wary about approaching strangers. Although the dog was affectionate and seemed eager to trust Lindsay, it would usually flee whenever she approached. Thankfully, Lindsay did not give up, and she returned every day in an effort to gain the dog’s trust. When Lindsay comes to visit, the German Shepherd wags her tail, but she always maintains her distance.
Lindsay chose to approach her husband for assistance in capturing the German Shepherd. Lindsay and her husband were successful, and they returned the puppy to her new home. Lindsay and the German Shepherd’s new family have given her space to de-stress. The German Shepherd is still feeling somewhat anxious.
In the days that followed, the German Shepherd began to regain trust in humans and even began eating out of Lindsay’s hand. The German Shepherd then permitted Lindsay to pet her head, and when she felt secure, she permitted Lindsay to rub her belly, which is a significant gesture for dogs.
The German Shepherd has found a loving and caring forever home. She now has an incredible family that will never again desert her. And this beautiful video shows how Lindsay rescued the desert-dwelling stray German Shepherd.
