Woman Helps An Obese Chihuahua Lose Weight

Bertha came into Allison Hackett’s life as a severely overweight Chihuahua. Sometimes, Allison could not help but feel conscious because of the kind of looks she receives when she goes outside with Bertha.

People gave Allison weird looks, which translated to blaming her for making her dog gain so much weight. She often thought about putting a sign on Bertha that says she did not do that to her pup, and that her Chihuahua is actually on a strict diet.

Bertha weighed almost three times her normal weight when Allison rescued her from the shelter. It turns out that Bertha’s owner passed away, and was discovered severely overweight.

Bertha struggled to walk, and always felt exhausted because of all the excess weight that weighed her down. Allison knew that she had to give Bertha a chance to live a healthy life, so she decided to contact the number on the Instagram post about the obese dog needing a home.

Fortunately, Allison used to work at a veterinary hospital, and have handled several cases of obese dogs. She knew that Bertha could stand a chance once she finds an owner who would care enough to help her lose weight.

Bertha had a wide array of medical issues, and she was taking medication for her seizures, which made her frequently feel hunger and thirst. Bertha weighed 12 pounds when she was dropped off at the shelter and was almost beyond help.

Allison made sure that Bertha had ample exercise and followed a strict diet. Bertha managed to get better because of the excess weight she lost, and her personality finally started to show.

Many people would not believe that Bertha used to struggle taking walks because he is now a new puppy who loves to run around on the grass. Now, Bertha weighs almost six pounds, and it is all thanks to Allison, who gave her a second chance at life.
