The Doggy

Who Could Possibly Duct-Tape A Sweet Staffordshire Mix?

A shocked resident of Charleston, South Carolina immediately called the Charleston County 911, but not because of burglary, but because of something else.

What could this be?

That resident just found a duct-taped dog with a bleeding snout wandering on the street, and whoever made this cruelty made sure that the electrical tape was tightly wrapped around the poor dog's muzzle.

Thanks to the resident's call, it sparked a series of events that would lead to the culprit's arrest, and a totally changed life for Caitlyn, the dog.

When the news broke out about the cruelty, a couple came forward to claim that they are the former owners of Caitlyn. According to them, a man offered to buy their dog (whose original name was Diamond) upon learning that the dog causes numerous damages to the couple's home that lead to their eviction. The dog was sold to the man in good health.

The couple decided to come forward because they might help the authorities in searching for the culprit behind the cruelty. They've described the man who bought the dog from them to Animal Control.

Caitlyn was then moved into a hyperbaric-chamber at Mount Pleasant Veterinary Care Specialists for much-needed treatments. Being in a critical condition, a large part of her tongue might be surgically removed if its tissue dies from the lack of blood.

Caitlyn's risks are severe disfigurement and life-threatening complications because of the massive amounts of her dead tissues. Luckily, after the surgery, Caitlyn only lost a small portion of her tongue and surprised everyone with her faster-than-expected recovery. Also, her surgery wounds are healing impressively, and her sutures are staying in place.

After days of recovering in the Veterinary Specialty Care, Caitlyn recovered her barking abilities, which is a very good sign that everything is going well.

From starting with smaller bites of food, she can now eat and drink normally. Also, she is so enthusiastic enough that she is now playing with the donated toys around her.

Meanwhile, the suspect behind Caitlyn's maltreatment was arrested by the North Charleston police.

And who is this suspect exactly?

He is William Leonard Dodson, a 41-year-old resident of North Charleston, South Carolina, who was later pleading guilty on a felony charge of an animal's ill-treatment.

To further advance her recovery, Caitlyn is now under the loving care of a foster family. Now that she is recovering from physical wounds, it's now time for her mental and emotional wounds to heal as well, and we're all hoping that it would lead to Caitlyn's full recovery.
