Do You Remember Adventures When You Were A Kid?
Tom and Joe are 10-year-old boys who love to play. Though they are from different families, they act more like brothers. They are together as much as they can be.
They love to explore. Tom likes to climb. Joe wants to run. Sometimes their adventures turn into family worries.
Take for example two weekends ago the boys were enjoying an outing their two families had planned in a park a few hours from home. The park has open spaces and trails to explore.
At one end is a set of woods that is inviting and curious especially if you are a pair of 10-year-old boys looking for an adventure.
Did You See This Coming?
Their parents were enjoying a relaxing conversation in the picnic area. Late afternoon and the boys decided to sneak away to see what they could find.
They loved the trails that lead into the woods. They especially liked the fallen trees and rolling hills that afforded great hiding places.
With all these nooks and crannies the pair began a game of “ hide and seek” amongst themselves. The problem was that each turn took the boys off in a different direction.
Before long the two were off the path and did not know which direction to turn.
We Are About to Have A Crisis
Meanwhile back at the picknick areas, two sets of parents noticed it was becoming hushed for active boys. Usually, they could detect their whereabouts by the giggles and yells.
Right now however they could not hear them at all.
The afternoon was turning into early evening. The sun was on its trajectory down. The parents began the hunt, but they could not locate the boys.
After about 45 minutes of looking they contacted the park ranger. He knew just what the issue was. He could have predicted it as it was not his first trip around the park.
Did you ever wish you had superhuman hearing or a better sense of smell?
Well, the park ranger not being a superhero, but he still knew the requirements.
He got on the radio and called his friend the local sheriff Butch from the county. It turns out that Butch was acquainted with the talent required for just such an occasion.
It was not Butch the sheriff who had the skills it was his K-9 rescue dog, Sammy, that not only had the skills but the training to go along with them.
Super Dog to The Rescue!
Do you know it took Sammy 15 minutes to locate, corral and return the two adventurous lads to their families? Sammy was familiar with the trails through the woods.
It was his keen hearing and high powered smell that allowed a quick rescue of the boys.
All were reunited. A warm thanks to the park ranger and the sheriff. But a special shout out to the K-9 with the keen smell and hearing who made quick work of it.
