After the rescue group New South Wales RSPCA advertised the adoption of a three-legged border collie, hundreds of Australians’ hearts melted. The dog’s name is Toby, and he is a high-energy and happy-go-lucky little guy who loves to be around people and have a good time.
Toby’s hind leg had been injured, so when he arrived at the shelter, the vets had to amputate it. Despite that, the staff assured potential owners that Toby is the kind of dog who loves life. He may have a missing limb, but that does not slow him down one bit.
According to the RSPCA, Toby is still a young dog and has not had much guidance in life. Because of that, his future family must be willing to spend time and effort in training and teaching him how to behave. The organization noted that border collie is such a smart and friendly breed. However, it is also a working dog, so Toby’s new owner must be experienced in handling this type of pet.
The RSPCA also recommends Toby to be with a family whose kids are over eight years old. They also said that it would be best to have no other dog in the house or pocket pets like mice or guinea pigs until Toby gets settled.
Then, the shelter gave one last instruction to those near the Coffs Harbour area and are interested in making Toby a part of their family. They asked them to contact the rescue center to schedule a meet and greet with the pup.
According to the shelter representative, Toby has had his health checked. He has been wormed, neutered, and even microchipped. Toby is so ready to move in with his new family.
Thankfully, the shelter’s post attracted so much attention. One commenter even reassured those who might be worried about having a three-legged dog. She said that she has one, and he is terrific.
