Many of us love nature and sometimes would go on adventures like hiking to have an incredible experience with our Mother Earth. Others would take it to the next level and would even take on challenges most people would never try, such as trying to conquer Mt. Everest. But in these adventures, there will always be dangers that can happen anytime.
People experience these dangers while they are with friends, and they have them to help them when they need it. But some crises can put you in a position where even your companions cant help you. In these situations, you start to think that this might your end, but lucky for some, Nookie was around.
Nanook, often called Nookie, is an Alaskan Husky who has saved multiple lives in the mountains of Alaska. Nookie is a rescue dog adopted by a man named Scott from a small Alaskan mountain town called Girdwood. Scott lets his husky roam freely in the Alaskan wilderness, which is why Nookie has also been able to save many hikers’ lives.
One of these people that Nookie saved is an adventurous hiker named Amelia Millings, who is also deaf. Amelia was hiking alone in peace when suddenly her trekking pole broke. She lost control and fell and couldn’t stop causing her to hit a rock directly ahead of her leaving her in so much pain.
When she looked around, she realized that no one was there to help her. But then Nookie showed up and stayed with her as she camped the night. She thought that when she woke up the next morning, the husky would have already left, but to her surprise, he was still there waiting for her to wake up.
Nookie guided Amelia back to safety, but on their way, they crossed a river where Amelia fell was swept away by the strong current. The water was pulling her down very quickly, but Nookie grabbed her bag’s strap and saved her from drowning. Nookie stayed with Amelia until the rescue helicopter arrived to get her. Watch Nookie’s story and how he saved many lives in the video below.
