Being a foster parent to a pregnant dog is harder than one might imagine. Anyone willing to take on this responsibility should be prepared to care for several puppies once they are born. They are delicate and sensitive, and they require a lot of attention.
A dog named Nessie was pregnant when she was under the care of a woman named Carter. She eventually gave birth and became an amazing mother to her puppies, performing her maternal duties. All the while, Carter was there to ensure that Nessie was pampered while nursing the puppies.
The hound puppies grew at a fast pace, which surprised Carter. At some point, she believed that she could see them growing before her eyes. Nevertheless, she enjoyed observing them as they explored their surroundings and learned new things.
Giving a bath to six hound puppies proved to be a laborious task for Carter. She always works up a sweat when doing this task, but she enjoys doing it regardless. Seeing the puppies clean after a long day of playing outside never fails to put a smile on Carter’s face.
After ten weeks, the puppies were ready to return to the animal shelter. They stay there until each one of them gets adopted. It’s an unavoidable and bittersweet process that occurs after someone fosters a pregnant dog.
Nessie remained with Carter until the dog was ready to move to a new home. Carter believes the mother dog deserves to be pampered and spoiled. Carter insists on doing that because it’s rare that a mother dog receives special attention after fulfilling her maternal duties.
This story was made possible with the help of an organization called Saving Grace Animals. Nessie and her puppies came from that animal shelter, and Carter often works with that organization. Please find out more about them in the source link below.
