The Doggy

The Reason Why This Dog Has PTSD Will Move You To Tears

When someone mentions Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, it is commonly associated with war veterans. PTSD is a severe psychiatric disorder that can happen to many people. However, it can happen to dogs too. This is the story of the dog who has seizures whenever someone tries to touch her.

Darong is an ordinary dog that's been living with one family for thirteen years. She used to be a very touchy dog. She likes hugs, cuddles, and many forms of physical display of affection.

Four years ago, something happened that changed Darong for a long time. Ever since one incident, Darong hasn't allowed anyone to touch her. The owners are included

.

At first, the veterinarian thought Darong's condition was related to her brain and spine. But since she only responded to certain stimuli, the vet diagnosed her with PTSD. The mental issues caused physical harm to this dog too.

When someone raises a hand in front of Darong, she cowers in fear. This means she might have experienced something awful. Four years ago, Darong might have seen her mother abused by someone. This scenario is what the owners think happened.

The owner was moved to tears when she thought about the incident. She wished she could have taken more care of Darong. During that time, the owner's husband was sick, so she had to prioritize that. The dog expert reassured her that she shouldn't feel so sorry for her dog.

Regardless of the past, there is always a solution. Mr. Chanjong, the dog expert, suggested using a mirror as a tool to help alleviate Darong's fear. The dog faces the mirror while the owner's hand approaches the mirror. That was the process involved to help show Darong there's nothing to worry about.

The next step was to remove the mirror and allow Darong to be more comfortable. This method worked because, in a short amount of time, the owner was able to pet Darong without any consequences.
