Once their help is needed, dogs will not think twice to give it to someone who needs it. Dogs are naturally helpful. This has been proven time and again in many stories we have heard in the past. Although they could not give support financially, dogs almost always provide emotional support.

The story of this young girl from Wisconsin is one of the many stories to prove that dogs are helpful creatures. Emma Mertens, now 7, is fighting for her life as she got hit by inoperable brain cancer.

The little girl is drawing strength from photos, videos, and love letters sent by pooches. This was made possible by people from all walks of life who heard of Mertens’ situation from a Facebook post.

Dodge Country Scanner, a Facebook page, posted about Mertens, and she wishes to get as many love letters and photos from dogs as possible. The Facebook post specifically asked pictures from dog owners.

Mertens' plea reached several dog lovers and these strangers heeded to the kid's request. With this, Mertens does not only receive photos of dogs, but she also gets well wishes from the owners of these pooches.

Mertens’ parents confirmed that they are receiving letters from all over the world. The kid's parents likewise said that the girl loves reading letters and looking at the pictures of the dogs. To date, the little girl received 70,000 letters and photos from different people.

In a separate report, meanwhile, doctors of Mertens confirmed that the girl got hit by a rare brain cancer known as the diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG). This type of cancer is not operable as it will result in death.

Despite this condition, the parents of Mertens believe that the girl is a fighter and will overcome this test in her life. The parents continue to call for dog photos and letters from dog lovers to make their daughter happy.
