Sick Abandoned Dog Chained To A Post Fully Recovers

It was a beautiful sunny afternoon when a passer-by was on a walk around Laurens, South Carolina. He was enjoying the view until he saw a dog chained to a post lying motionless on the ground.

Saving Champ

The passer-by approached the dog and noticed how emaciated he was. The lining of the dog’s bones could be seen, so the man wasn’t sure whether the pup was still alive.

The man called animal control for help. Within minutes, the rescuers arrived and quickly removed the dog’s chains and heavy leather collar that had the name “Champ” on it.

The rescuers rushed Champ to the local vet to get treated. The nurses gave Champ some food and water then gave him a bath to get rid of the maggots on his body.

Once rescue Dogs Rock, an animal shelter, heard about Champ’s shocking condition, they knew they had to help. They transferred Champed into a private clinic where he will get round-the-clock medical care.

When Champ arrived at the clinic, the vet was able to examine the dog properly. The doctor saw the extent of Champ’s condition.

Luckily, the police in Laurens started an investigation and found the people that left Champ tied up. They arrested Champ’s previous owners for animal cruelty.

New beginnings

Champ was required to stay in the clinic to monitor his health. In just a few weeks, thanks to therapy, Champ learned how to walk.

Although Champ suffered unimaginable cruelty, he was the happiest dog the nurses have seen. It didn’t take long before he was finally strong enough to go to a foster home.

A lovely couple that loved fostering offered to take care of Champ. As soon as Champ arrived in his new house, he immediately began playing with his foster brothers.

Champ’s story went viral online. Hundreds of people applied to adopt him, but Champ’s foster parents weren’t sure if he was ready yet.
