Leo is a shelter dog who finally found his forever home after spending 900 days in Dogs Forever, a shelter in Iowa. Even though he was a sweet and kind dog who loved interacting with staff, it seemed he could not find a perfect family that would give him love and affection. Before he got rescued by Linda Reynolds, he was once staying at a high-kill shelter and at the time, he was scheduled to be euthanized.

Reynolds believed that the loving dog deserved a second chance, so she did not hesitate to save him. However, there were challenges involved in taking care of Leo, and only people who were willing to see past these challenges would fall in love with his charming personality. Dogs Forever was willing to find Leo a new family, so they posted his photos and videos on their social media page because they wanted to show viewers that Leo deserved to be loved.

Unfortunately, no one seemed to show interest in him, and it broke Leo's heart. His ideal home should not have any dogs, cats, or even young children. He also needed plenty of exercise so he could be suitable in a house with a fence. Since there were many requirements that potential adopters had to comply before they could take him home, they would rather choose dogs with few requirements.

Leo patiently waited, and his wish came true after David Evens came to the shelter to look for a dog. The moment he saw Leo, there was instantly a special connection. Even when the staff explained Leo's behavior, Evens did not seem to mind. He made sure that he would be able to bond with Leo, so he decided to hire a person who could train the affectionate dog. When Leo was finally home, Evens became much happier because he knew that he made the right decision.
