Animal welfare organizations and rescue centers respond to every type of rescue missions each day. And every time, they witness a different scene.
While there are cases that are filled with nothing but cuteness, others are merely disturbing. The sight of an injured animal isn’t easy to look at, but it happens. And unfortunately, even young pets suffer from extreme neglect and abuse, just like what happened to Hope.
On May 1st, Stray Rescue of St Louis was faced with a troubling case. Hope, a tiny white puppy with seriously wounded back feet and tail, came through their door. Staffers believed that they were injured because they were tightly bound together for an extended period of time.
The rescue’s vet team prepped for surgery the following day to amputate her hind legs and a portion of her tail. But even before they started, Hope’s little paws and the tip of her tail started to fall off.
The vet team proceeded to perform the surgery to remove the dead tissues on her paws and tail. And the first thing Hope looked for when she woke up was food. Her rescue friends were delighted knowing that she had kept her hopes up despite the ordeal she had to go through.
Two days after her surgery, Hope started to stand on her feet as if nothing happened. At a young age, she proved how resilient and determined she is.
The little pup needed another surgery for her injured tail two weeks later. But besides that, she has kept her good spirits, and her toes are healing perfectly fine.
Hope also received a prayer blanket and a little pink flamingo toy that she loves to bring anywhere with her.
Now, Hope is having a great time in her foster home. She is, indeed, one strong puppy. Hope is a true warrior.
