The Doggy

Police Officers And Firefighters Save Choking Puppy Brought To Their Station By His Owners

Officers at the North Reading Police Department were startled when a young woman started banging at the glass window of their station. They could see right on her face that she was frantic and needed immediate help. The cops stopped what they were doing and rushed out to their reception area.

The woman and her boyfriend were carrying a limp dog and they were asking the cops to help them.

Choking

Megan Vitale, a North Reading resident was at home with her boyfriend taking a rest after having their lunch. They suddenly heard that their nine-week-old Saint Bernard puppy was making choking sounds. When they checked on him, they saw the pup, named Bodhi, going weak and having difficulty breathing.

The couple became scared and quickly took the puppy, got in their car, and drove to get help. When they saw a police station nearby, they stopped and rushed in.

When the cops got hold of the pup he was already unresponsive and was barely breathing. The officers put the puppy on the floor and administered chest compressions and back blows. For the next ten minutes, they patiently attended to the dog until the obstruction was finally dislodged.

But he was still weak and unable to breathe because of what happened. Firefighters have arrived by then and brought a special oxygen contraption designed for animals. Slowly the pup started breathing again.

Quick thinking

When Bodhi was stabilized he was given to the grateful owners and he was brought to a vet for further examination. After a few hours, he was cleared to go home where he could rest and fully recover.

The couple is very thankful for the help of the quick-thinking cops and firefighters who saved their puppy's life. Bodhi, who just moved in that day with Megan, apparently choked on his lunch.
