The Doggy

Pit Bull Puppy Reunited With The Firefighter Who Rescued Her

Anyone who sees Chunkie now will find it hard to believe that she used to have evil fur parents. When she was still living with them, the only area she could access was the tree outside their house. They tied her there and never bothered to let her in whenever it would rain.

Since she was constantly exposed to the ever-changing weather and other external factors, Chunkie ended up with mange. Her family's poor treatment eventually took a toll on her body. She was malnourished, and if she wasn't rescued by concerned Sacramento firefighters, she would be dead by now.

A new life for Chunkie

Mike Thawley was among the firefighters who saw to Chunkie's aid. They freed her and took her back to their station. Once they arrived, they gave her a bath and wrapped a towel around her because she desperately needed warmth. After giving her food to eat, they turned her over to the Front Street Animal Shelter so she would receive proper treatment and hopefully find her forever home.

Even though he knew the Chunkie would be well taken care of at the shelter, Thawley couldn't stop worrying about her. That's why he went back to the shelter the next day to check on his new friend.

Despite feeling weak, Chunkie greeted Thawley with so much enthusiasm when she saw him at the shelter. She wagged her tail, followed him around, and showered him with kisses. She was ecstatic that she got reunited with one of the men who saved her life.

Chunkie's forever home

Thawley got his family to join him in one of his visits to the shelter. They, too, fell in love with Chunkie and decided to officially welcome her into their family. They got to bring her home with them when she finally finished the treatment for her mange.
