Mystery Box Appears on the Door Step

A mystery box appeared on the morning of April 23, 2015, on the doorstep of the San Jose Animal Care Center.  As a Staff member peered into the box noting a pungent odor is wafting out. Inside the box a matted flea infested and terrified dog gazed back.

“What’s in the box?”

“Out from the box, We saw the peering eyes of a very neglected dog.” Said Karen, “It’s sad to say, but we see this often.”

“Her coat is matted. She has feces and urine on her coat. She is sitting in it!  And there is an open wound or an infection on her left shoulder”. She is reporting to her vet supervisor. “Lots of fleas. And that SMELL is awful.”

 “Let’s fix this.”

Correcting the wrongs that had occurred the staff is working to undoing the neglect they found.

‘“Pandora” is her name,” looking at the box in which she arrived. “We don’t know what else to call,” Karen said. “Using a set of grooming clippers and a good bath we finally met her.”

“Now this is a spa.”

Pandora enjoyed the luxury accommodations of her kennel for several days. She ate, played and slept hoping her owner would appear.  No one came. There she is Pandora and her shabby box.

“OK, Back to work.”

Finally, the vet stepped in and said, “We need to get to work.” So, the Vet performed surgery.  She fixed the umbilical hernia. Also, she cleaned and removed some bad teeth.

“looks like bad news, cancer.”

She discovered the shoulder wound to be a tumor. She removed the tumor and set it to the lab.  After some time the lab reported back. With great joy, the specimen was declared malignant But, you took it all out. And the patient is cured!

The surgeon also took away another mass on her side. This mass too is only a cyst.

Now the real girl appears

After surgery, she now wears her playful and silly grin. Pandora is enjoying the company of her new master; he is an elderly gentleman that was looking for a friend.

Her video story is below in the video. This film shows the work fo the clinic staff.

Be warned there are graphical surgery images that may be disturbing.

Thank you guys

Thanks to the talented medical staff at the San Jose Animal Care Center.
