Orphaned Puppies Find New Mom In A Rescue Dog Who Just Lost Her Own Litter

When the universe takes something away, it will give you something as a replacement.

This mantra has always given humans hope. And it seems that this is also applicable to dogs!

One rescue dog in Minnesota unfortunately lost her own puppies. But eventually, she found a new family in a group of orphaned puppies. The fateful encounter is proof that the universe may give you something precious when you experience loss and grief.

Here’s this little family’s cute story.

The two tragedies

A mommy dog at a Princeton-based shelter called Ruff Start Rescue gave birth to 10 puppies. But she died unexpectedly, prompting volunteers to take turns in caring for the newborn puppies. While they were at it, they were figuring out what to do with the orphaned litter.

Around the same time the litter’s mom died, another rescue dog named Pepper went through her own tragedy. She lost all her newborn puppies, and she was evidently devastated by her misfortune. She even grew depressed.

Between these two tragedies, volunteer Lexi Johnson found a silver lining. The rescue organization then paired up Pepper with the 10 puppies. Thankfully, the new family quickly clicked.

Lexi said that when she placed the puppies around Pepper, they instinctively moved towards their new mom. Lexi said that what she saw was nothing short of a miracle.

The little family’s doing well

Lexi announced on Facebook that the puppies were all thriving with their new owners. Lexi added that she was in tears, knowing that the 10 puppies’ original mom would appreciate what Pepper was doing.

Lexi said that the best place for the puppies was with a mother who didn’t only provide them with good milk but also teach them behaviors and dog-related habits that humans couldn’t offer. Right now, the orphaned puppies are still in the nursing stage with Pepper. They aren’t ready yet for adoption. Nevertheless, applicants are encouraged to visit the Ruff Start Rescue website to check which of the puppies are available.
