We all have varying opinions about what we like in a dog. Some prefer dogs with long fur, while others prefer dogs with short hair. People are also quite particular about the size of the dog they like. We also have to admit that most of us are guilty of stereotyping dogs by looking at their height.
A woman named Sheridan Oliver Martin really wanted to adopt a Chihuahua. However, her husband, Sinclair, hated small dogs. Sinclair thinks that small dogs are noisy and mean, and he made it very clear from the start that he doesn’t like small dogs. Sheridan knew that she would get pushback from her husband if she even suggested that she was thinking about wanting to adopt a Chihuahua.
Sinclair wanted to adopt a big dog, such as a German Shepherd or a Pit Bull. He wanted a tough dog that could play with their other dog, Merlin, who’s also a large dog. He thought that Chihuahuas couldn’t handle roughhousing with large dogs.
However, Sheridan was persistent. She begged and pleaded with Sinclair about wanting to adopt a Chihuahua. Thankfully, Sinclair gave in and told Sheridan that she could get a Chihuahua on her next birthday. Of course, Sheridan was really excited.
A week before the couple picked up their newest member of the family, a Chihuahua named Pickles, Sinclair lectured his wife about being responsible for her dog and that he didn’t want anything to do with it Pickles. It was clear that Sinclair still wasn’t on board with adopting a small dog.
However, Sinclair didn’t expect the next thing that happened when he finally met Pickles. The first thing that Pickles did was stare at Sinclair and cuddle close to him. As soon as the car door closed to start the drive back home, Sinclair looked at Sheridan and told her that Pickles was their dog.
Contrary to Sinclair’s lecture about not wanting to have anything to do with Pickles, he took the primary responsibility to care for Pickles. For a guy who hated small dogs, he now developed a routine of tucking a Chihuahua to bed every night. He even gives Pickles paw massages from time to time. Here’s a video showing how a tiny Chihuahua turned a tough guy into complete mush.
