As dog owners, we often wonder what happens to our dogs when we leave them alone at home. We always worry about our pets' safety and we also want to make sure that our dogs don't do anything crazy while no one's around to look after them.
A family in South Africa learned the importance of considering the safety of their pets whenever they leave home.
Byron Thanarayen and his wife first noticed that one of their dogs, Chucky, was wet. They wondered what happened since both of them went out. Byron and his wife decided to review the security camera footage to learn what happened.
Byron and his wife were both shocked by what they saw. The recording revealed that Chucky slipped and fell into their backyard swimming pool and was unable to get out. Chucky was trying to stay afloat when they saw their other dog, Jessie, come to the rescue.
The footage revealed that Jessie was waiting patiently for Chucky to get near enough the edge of the pool to pull her brother out. The next several minutes were tense but Jessie was really persistent to save Chucky's life. In the end, Jessie was able to grab hold of Chucky and pull him out of the swimming pool.
It was clear for the couple that it could have ended in tragedy if it wasn't for their courageous dog, Jessie. It was the first time that their dog fell into the pool but Byron and his wife learned the danger after watching the security camera footage. They decided to install a pool cover to keep their dogs safe whenever they're not at home.
Of course, Jessie received plenty of cuddles, kisses, and treats from her family. If it weren't for Jessie, Chucky would have surely drowned.
