Hanna Westmorelans is 12 years old and she is suffering from Type 1 Diabetes. Because of this, she always needs to have her service dog with her. Her service dog is named Journey and she is a golden retriever. Journey went through training to help Hanna and let her know when her blood sugar level is too high.
However, things changed when Journey was shot. Journey lost her life and Hanna was beset with grief.
Losing Journey was a big blow. Hanna considered the dog not just as a service dog but also as her friend. Her family was also sad. They had to raise $10,000 before to get Hanna a service dog.
Tina is Hanna’s mom and she said that they still feel sad about what happened to Journey. They want to know who did this to their dog but no leads have been found yet.
Hanna’s family knows that they need to give Hanna a new service dog so they started to raise money. They will be using it for that purpose and they will also be using it as a reward to whoever can pinpoint the suspect behind Journey’s death.
Amy and Jay Novacek are a couple and they breed and raise dogs who would, later on, become service dogs. They heard about Hanna’s plight and knew that it was time to help them. They know how much a service dog can bring to someone since Amy has been dependent on a service dog after she got into a terrible car accident.
The couple decided to give Hanna a very adorable Labradoodle which is named Joey and they are giving it to her as a donation. Joey is still a puppy and they still need to wait for the pup to grow up so that it would be able to start training. The expenses for training will be shouldered by the Novaceks as well.
