Foster Mom Saved From A Rattlesnake By A Fearful Pittie

Final Frontier Rescue Project is the volunteer rescue group from Texas that took Nellie from a shelter in California when she was just one-year-old.

This was also the rescue group that helped the little pittie meet her foster mom, Jane Taylor, half a year ago.

Years before Nellie got under Taylor’s care, she was living from kennel to kennel. So, when she arrived at her new home, everything seemed to scare her.

She was reluctant when people would try to pet her and was also protective of her toys. However, with Taylor’s help, Nellie started warming up.

A few weeks ago, Taylor realized that Nellie hasn’t only begun warming up. She has also grown into a brave pup as she saved her foster mom’s life.

This unexpected display of love and courage was beyond impressive!

Taylor and Nellie hiked up a big rock dome. They decided to traverse to an area that’s not normally passed when they were headed back to their car.

That’s when Taylor heard a snake. She stopped and started screaming before she saw the snake.

Before Taylor could even move, Nellie quickly ran over to Taylor’s protection. Within a few seconds, Nellie’s face got bit.

A friend who was hiking with them threw his jacket to cover the snake. Then, he dragged it away from the poor dog.

Nellie couldn’t move, so they had to carry her as they headed down the mountain. Taylor said that Nellie didn’t cry of pain, but she could tell that she was not okay.

Nellie’s mouth was just wide open, her eyes were shut, and she had her head tilted back. She knew that Nellie needed help as quickly as possible.

Thankfully, they got to the vet right on time where Nellie was given two vials of antibiotics and anti-venom. Nellie healed quickly, and within two days, she’s back to chasing squirrels. She’s very resilient.

The pittie who was once scared has become a brave dog. Now, Nellie enjoys her life and is not afraid of people and other dogs anymore.

She’s no longer that possessive with her toys too. Indeed, Nellie is very much ready to find her forever home.
