They were living just on rice, pasta, and some oatmeal.

They were lucky to have a water purifier with them, so they were able to drink salt water turned to freshwater.

Their boat which was supposed to travel to Tahiti but they encountered some engine issues.

While at the middle of the sea, the two girls, Tasha and Jennifer tried to get in touch with anyone.

They called for a nearby boat or someone from land, but to no avail.

Signal reception being very poor,  they could not communicate with anyone.

They tried very hard every single day to reach anyone thru their radio, but their efforts turned futile.

On the other hand, their family and friends were absolutely worried sick about them.

It had been almost half a year, and nobody knew what happened.

Joyce Appel, Jennifer’s mother, did not stop asking for help.

One day, a Taiwanese fishing boat came near the two girls’ boat. The staff immediately called for rescue to the mainland.

That was when the search and rescue operation commenced.

The two girls could not help but cry their hearts out the moment they saw their rescuers.

They could not fathom that such a horrific situation could happen to them.

As soon as they were rescued, the girls and the dogs were checked by medical professionals.

Aside from obvious signs of distress, they were all fine.

The girls are thankful for the second chance of life given to them.

As for the dogs, they may seem clueless with what happened, but it also seems that they know they are out of danger.
