In South Korea, a Corgi named Leo had been to three different homes before a kind-hearted couple took him in. They promised to give him a good life and never abandon him.

Leo got along well with all of the other dogs in his new home. However, he had surely not been there long when he became aggressive towards a Bulldog named Choco. He was usually very docile, so the couple could not understand why he suddenly had a change of behavior.

Choco never did anything to provoke Leo, but the latter would attack him anyway. One time, Leo managed to get close, and the fight escalated. Their owner got hurt while trying to stop the fight.

The owners had to do something before anyone could get seriously hurt. They wanted to know the reason behind Leo’s unusual behavior towards Choco, so they called in an animal behaviorist named Lee Chan-jong.

According to Lee Chan-jong, Leo had a fear of being abandoned again, and sent off to another place. He felt he had to secure his position in the household and decided that Choco was the Alpha he needed to overpower.

The owners had to assert their authority over the dog, so Lee Chan-jong helped them start Leo’s basic obedience training. They started by limiting him to a small space. The dog was not allowed to move from his place without his dad’s permission.

Leo’s training had to be on a regular basis. When he learned to stay where he was told, the next thing he had to learn was not to react when Choco was in the room. When they brought in Choco, his first instinct was to assert himself, but his owner gave him a firm command. The training paid off because Leo learned to recognize his new owner’s authority.

Leo eventually learned that he could equally be loved even with the other dogs in the house. From that time on, he and Choco got along well.

Leo only needed reassurance that he was loved and accepted. He reverted back to being sweet, and the household was a happy and peaceful place again.
