Dog Washed Away By Flood Gets Rescued And Lands A Forever Home

When Claudia and Chris Lognion visited their rest camp in Creole, Louisiana, they noticed a dog on an island across their house. It was three weeks post-storm that time and they believed that when a big current came, it pushed the pup into the island. Quickly, the couple started posting on social media and asked people for help for the dog.

Aja Nikiya Estro, the founder of Compassion Kind, saw the post and immediately dropped everything she was doing. She gathered up two more volunteers and headed out straight to the site to save the poor animal. When they arrived, she quickly realized how inhabitable the island was.

The rescuers began searching right away. A few minutes later, they saw a little white thing hiding in the bushes. It was Marsha. But almost instantly, the dog darted.

Marsha was so scared that she did not even come to the food pile the rescuers prepared. There’s no way they could catch her with food, they all agreed, so they decided to use a trap instead. Thirty minutes quickly passed but Marsha just kept walking around the trap but never inside it.

Eventually, Aja decided to approach the dog on her own. She spent several minutes with Marsha and assured the dog she won’t hurt her. And when she saw the perfect opportunity, she grabbed her and carried her out of the bushes.

Marsha sat on Aja’s lap the entire boat ride back to the city. The rescuers could tell she was finally at ease. She knew she’s finally safe.

The rescuers waited but no one came to claim Marsha. She had no microchip or a collar so there’s no telling if someone owned her. Soon, the dog moved to a foster home, where she spent a short while until she was ready to start fresh.

Compassion Kind screened all applicants that offered their home to the dog. In the end, a lovely couple seemed the perfect match. They adored Marsha so much and she loved them just the same.
