A dog named Dou Dou, seven years old, had to walk 37 miles for 26 days. This was after he was left and forgotten by his family when they stopped to take a break at a service station. Fortunately, the pooch was determined to find his way home.
According to Qianjiang Evening News, a newspaper based in Hangzhou, China, the story happened last month, when Mr. Qui and his family went to the countryside to visit relatives. They brought Dou Dou for their trip. While on the trip, they decided to stop at a service station, 37 miles away from the family's home. Several hours after, they arrived at their destination. However, they realized that their beloved pooch was no longer with them.
Mr. Qiu said that they hoped Dou Dou would survive and be found by a kind-hearted individual. The family probably thought that they would never see their dog again. Fortunately, however, the pooch was set on to be with his family again.
One day, the family was surprised to see a dirty stray dog on their doorstep. They could not recognize Dou Dou initially because the dog became so skinny. Aside from that, Dou Dou was still pretty much himself. The family was also thankful that their dog did not sustain any injuries. Dou Dou was walking unsteadily and appeared tired on the first day of returning to his family. But after that, he became much more energetic.
The awe-inspiring story of Dou Dou impressed many people. Animal experts even commended how the dog was able to find his way back. According to a dog trainer, Dou Dou is exceptionally talented at finding his family's home, especially from miles away.
Although Dou Dou's journey is incredible, some experts said that what happened might likely be accidental. They pointed out that dog owners must watch their pets while traveling. We can never be sure that our dog would be able to do what Dou Dou did.
