Smiles do wonders for different people. It can brighten up someone’s day, and in some cases, melt the hearts of people who see it. Such is the case of Herbert, the smiling sick dog who has gained fans from different parts of the world.
A toothy smile for his foster mom
What is even more interesting about this story is that he was sick when the video was filmed. The 5-month-old puppy was in foster care because of his medical condition. Sarah McDonald from PAWS revealed that the American Staffordshire mix was suffering from a flu that was contagious.
They moved him to a foster home in the hopes that it will help him with his recovery. He was very weak at first, and they were really worried about him. The change in the environment probably did him some good because he regained his strength as days went by.
She was just playing with him one night when the unexpected happened. Herbert’s foster mom wanted to test her luck at making him smile. She was uttering the words “say cheese” in the video. The puppy took this as a go signal to flash his big, sweet smile to the camera. The video has a whopping 300,000 views, and the numbers just keep on coming!
Fur parents from all over the world
Herbert’s foster mom received a lot of queries about him. Some wanted to ask about his medical condition, and if there are ways they can help. Others wanted to ask if the puppy is already up for adoption. He is still nursing himself back to health, at the moment. The foster mom, however, did tell people to stand by. Herbert will be up for adoption real soon.
