Dog Found In The Woods Became The Perfect Outdoor Companion

A photographer from Fort McMurray, Canada named Graham Whatmough was taking a walk in the forest when he found a dog off the trail. He assumed that the dog had been staying in that area for a while.

Graham offered some water, and the dog willingly came closer. She seemed to be warming up to him, so he encouraged her to walk with him to the car. He noticed she was limping a little, but they finally made it to the car. She was so hungry that she gobbled up all the food Graham offered.

Graham posted on social media to find out if someone had lost a dog in the woods. However, no one contacted him. He planned to take him to the local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or SPCA.

Several days after Graham found the dog, the time had lapsed for anyone to claim her. He then decided to adopt her and named her Willow.

Graham took Willow to the vet. He found out that her hind legs were broken. The legs had started to heal, but the vet still suggested surgery.

Graham’s friends helped him gather donations online to fund the surgery, and they were able to raise 4,000 dollars. However, the cost  of the surgery had escalated to twice the amount they had raised.

Graham decided against the surgery because he did not want Willow to go through the process of rebreaking the bones and adding hardware. The dog did not seem to be in pain and could move about pretty well. Graham chose to donate the surgery fund to SPCA.

Sometime later, Willow had a litter of nine puppies. She turned out to be a good mama. All the puppies went to Graham’s friends so they could visit from time to time.

Willow was so happy to explore the outdoors with Graham in any season. Graham was lucky to find a companion that matched his love for outdoor adventures.
