APOPKA, Fla. — All of a sudden, we have fire dogs coming out of our ears! We never had a fire dog at the station. Now we have eight, Wow!
You have heard of Volunteer Firemen I am sure. Have you ever heard of a volunteer firedog?
Well, the team at Apopka Station 5 never had their fire dog. That is until a pregnant one showed up and gave them more than they bargained.
“This pregnant dog shows up at the station,” a paramedic on the team began to relate. “I instantly became promoted to canine nursemaid.” “We wound up with eight altogether.”
“Mom looked pretty thin.” She went on to say. “I think those pups were draining her.”
“With good fortune seven of the eight survived. Momma dog is looking much better with a consistent diet and grooming”.
“We checked around the neighborhood.” “No one seems to know this dog or where she came from.”
“The entire team took turns with the pups. We ensured that mom was in good care With three shifts there were a lot that helped.”
“We also got the word out thru social media and now have additional helpers.”
“You should see the list of people that want these kids when they are old enough.” “It’s great!”
“We have contributions for food, vet expenses, and of course toys for the dogs!”
“I think mom will stay with us. She loves the attention. We like the company.”
