Doberman Survives Brutal Mountain Lion Attack By Faking Own Death

Wildlife encounters are common in California. Despite the noise and bustle of modern life, wildlife considers the city to be its home. Unfortunately, this poses problems for many pets, such as what happened to a family’s Doberman, who was recently the victim of a terrible attack.

A sly mountain lion snuck into the front yard of a suburban home at 4:00 a.m. as the family slept comfortably. In one area of the yard, the family’s Doberman was leashed. The surveillance camera recorded how the mountain lion attacked the defenseless dog.

Unfortunately, the attack took the Doberman entirely off guard. He was left with little ability to defend himself, and the length of his leash made matters worse.

Because the dog was helpless and confined by his leash, the mountain lion appeared to attack the dog in the blink of an eye and was able to hold him down swiftly. Blood began to ooze from the dog’s wounds as he lay limp on the ground.

A few minutes had passed, and the mountain lion’s mouth had remained firmly clamped around the dog’s neck the entire time. The dog remained still as if his life were being ripped from him.

The savage predator eventually concluded that the dog had taken his last breath. He loosens his grasp on the dog’s neck just enough for the dog to regain his breath. The Doberman started barking as hard as he could. He cried out for aid while also scaring the mountain lion, which caused it to flee.

The Doberman’s owners discovered him with several puncture wounds and tears after the gruesome encounter. They rushed him to the vet clinic, where he received 60 stitches and is expected to recover fully. According to the authorities, the only thing that saved the dog was his collar.

The whole ordeal may be seen in the video below.
