An eight-year-old pit bill mix named Daisy used to experience separation anxiety whenever her owner Rosemarie T. left the house. But following the arrival of two kittens, the pup does not have to worry about being alone at home anymore.
Rosemarie shared how fours years ago when she came home, she noticed that Daisy was hiding and shaking. Something must have scared her. Since that time, she no longer liked being left home alone. Rosemarie consulted a veterinarian and was told that the pup needed medication. The medication somehow worked. Daisy does not tremble anymore, but she still suffers from separation anxiety.
Rosemarie decided to get two little helpers to ease Daisy's worries. She met Hummus and Honey while volunteering at the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) Adoption Center in New York City. Rosemarie decided to foster the two-month-old kittens after the organization found them without their mother.
Rosemarie has always been an animal lover. She has already fostered 31 kittens since 2012. Daisy also loves mothering them. Daisy has always warmed up to the kittens that her owner brings home, so it was not surprising that she quickly took a liking to Hummus and Honey.
Rosemarie noticed how the kittens seemed to have a calming effect on Daisy. Seeing how the three formed a sweet bond, she eventually decided to adopt the kittens and rename them Tulip and Sparkles. With the kittens' magic, the pup now experiences less anxiety. Rosemarie no longer has to worry so much when she leaves the house.
ASPCA Kitten Nursery administrative manager Gemma Smith said that the simple act of fostering can change the life of so many animals. She added that the time spent by animals in a home environment is not just beneficial for the animals but also for the foster caregiver.
