John Cassabria, an Amazon employee, is an animal lover. He grew up in a household full of pets and now has four dogs, four cats, and even a pet snake. However, what he’d witnessed while he was still on duty could stay in his memory for a lifetime.
Cassabria was in his car, driving through Woburn, Massachusetts, when he made a wrong turn. He momentarily stopped his car to relocate his GPS tracker. However, he noticed a strange noise coming from a neighboring yard.
He followed the noise until he came to a fence-enclosed yard. He took a short glance over the fence, to check, but it only made him freak out. He saw a dog struggling to keep afloat in the water.
He immediately jumped in the water and swam out of the pool with the dog in his arms. He instantly took out his phone and dialed the Woburn Police Department’s phone number. The animal control officer assigned by the agency happened to reside nearby and knew the owners by chance.
Once Julie Caldwell heard what happened to her dog, she instantly dropped her phone and cried. She claims she never expected that Luka would ever be near the pool. According to Julie, Luca has a doggie door that he uses when he wants to go outside, but he usually returns and remains inside their house.
She asked her neighbor to watch the dog while she was gone earlier that day, but the dog might’ve slipped out and gone to the pool area. Julia instantly thanked Cassabria. She further said that words could not describe how thankful her family was for him.
She even emailed Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to let him know that one of his employees rescued her drowning dog. Luka was now safe and sound, all thanks to Cassabria.
