After A Month-Long Search, Missing German Shepherd Was Found 900 Miles Away

Cass is a stunningly beautiful black German Shepherd adopted by Becca Williams who lives in St. Augustine, Florida. Like most dogs of this breed, Cass is very intelligent and obedient. She rarely strays away from her mom and if she does, she always comes back.

But in April 2021, Becca accidentally left her front door open, and the dog got out. This has happened before, and the dog usually returns after wandering around a bit. But this time, the dog never came back and was nowhere to be found.

Picked up

Becca started to panic when she realized that Cass was truly missing. She drove around the area for hours, searching for her beloved pet. She eventually had posters printed, and she posted them all over. She also visited shelters and clinics, hoping that someone found her dog.

And to get more people involved in the search, the worried owner started a Facebook Page called Finding Cass. Here she posted pictures of her dog and started asking people for help. Numerous dog lovers and rescue groups followed the page and gave updates. Sadly though, none of the leads turned out to be helpful.

But then, 26 days after Cass went missing, Becca got a call from someone living in Indiana, 900 miles away from her home. The caller believes that Cass may have been picked up by one of their family members who were vacationing there in Florida at the time the dog went missing. They thought she was really a stray and took the dog home with them.

Taking Cass home

When they confirmed that the German Shepherd was indeed Cass, Beccas was overjoyed. But she ran into some obstacles.

First, the lady who picked the dog up refused to give her back. But after some prodding, she agreed. Then, after agreeing to meet halfway in Nashville so that the dog could go home, the lady backed out. She cited a family emergency as her reason.

Becca had no choice but to drive all the way to get Cass home. But it didn’t matter, she finally found her dog. And when they finally reunited, she was overcome with her emotions. She cried and hugged her dog, releasing all the stress she had for the past month.

Cass is now back home, and Becca is not taking any more chances. She got her pet a GPS collar, and she vowed to be more vigilant with her.
