Annie, a golden retriever, and Hermione, a potbellied pig, was left by their owners in New Philadelphia outside the Tuscarawas County Humane Society. They were adopted together by a farm owner, a woman together with her daughter.
The story of Annie and Hermione being abandoned went viral and a lot of people wanted to own them as pets.
Last week, the poor dog and his pig companion were left outside the Ohio shelter. The incident was caught on cam. The surveillance footage was posted on the Tuscarawas County Humane Society Facebook group. Vice president of the board of directors, Kelly Schoelles shared the video.

The footage showed how a man retrieved a dog from a car. He was trying to tie it on a post. He went back to the car to get the pig who was on a crate.
According to Schoelles, the two were abandoned outside for about four hours. Good thing, a county sherrif’s deputy passed by and saw them.
They posted the clip and soon enough, hundreds of animal lovers wanted to get them for adoption. Grace Erb and Kelli Stark (Grace’s mom) were one of those applicants. They own a farm in Louisville, Ohio, the Maplewood Farm.
According to Erb, they already own dozens of rescue animals on the farm. When they heard Annie and Hermione’s story, they got immediately drawn to them.
Erb saw the golden retriever first. She already fell in love with it but when she saw Hermione, she thought that she also needed to get the pig.
Haley Predragovch, the shelter’s director agreed that Erb and Stark are the best people to take the Annie and Hermione home. They already have a lot of experience taking care of animals, so the two will definitely be in good hands.
Erb added, “They will never be separated”. She also mentioned that Annie and Hermione will live at the farm together for the rest of their days.
Meanwhile, the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Department is still trying to track down Annie and Hermione’s previous owner. They are using the license plate number of the car to search for the culprit. He needs to face the consequences of abandoning his pets.
