It’s a pretty normal scene for a dog to be stuck in tunnels. I’ve seen a lot of those online. This one is different though. Why? It involved a tortoise and a dog.
Yes, you read that right. Here’s what happened. A man and his dog fell into a hole, and the dog got stuck. When the man called for rescue, he had already realized that apart from him and his dog, there was a huge tortoise that’s stuck with his dog.
Luckily, the rescue only took 10 minutes. When the rescuers got to the scene the man had already managed to get himself out of the hole. They only had to rescue the dog and the tortoise. Let’s get to know the dog and the tortoise.
The tortoise weighs 70 pounds, and his name is Godzilla. Apparently, Godzilla dug a hole and a tunnel from his owners’ property to the neighbors’ property. He dug a hole that crosses right under a patio, wall, and the walkway.
The dog in this story is a German Shepherd named Taylor. Taylor was outdoors with his owner when they both fell into the tunnel that Godzilla dug. When Taylor fell in, he had a blanket with him. That blanket has caused the situation to be more complicated.
The blanket that fell together with Taylor got tangled around Taylor and Godzilla. This caused both of them to be stuck with each other inside the tunnel. Each time Taylor tries to pull away from the situation, the more he became stuck.
Good thing the rescue group arrived with more than enough time to save both animals. They did a general check up on both animals, and they confirmed that both animals were unharmed during the incident. So what got them out of the tunnel? It’s simple – they used lettuce.
Tortoise loves lettuce and that’s what the firefighters used to get the tortoise out of the tunnel. Once Godzilla was out, it was easier to get Taylor out of the tunnel. Clever. Very clever rescue team. Both animals were safe and sound with their own mommies and daddies.
