Of course, we certainly all know just how smart our canine companions are. They can readily learn how to detect a bomb or perform a difficult skill such as dancing or playing the piano. However, with a trick he learned recently, this cute canine from Texas topped the list of smart dogs worldwide.
One morning, officers from the Odessa Police Department in Texas were going about their duties when something unexpected happened. An adorable canine strolled into the reception area and propped himself up against the front counter with his two paws.
Because he was alone and there were no humans in sight, the officers assumed he was a lost dog. Unlike other lost animals or children, the pooch seemed unconcerned about his plight. In fact, as he reported himself missing, he was wagging his tail with glee.
Sergeant Rusty Martin, one of the officers on duty, assisted the missing animal. He looked for a dog tag to identify his owners, but it appeared to have fallen off during the pooch’s adventures (or misadventures). With that, the officers decided to contact animal control to see whether the dog was microchipped.
The officers had the opportunity of entertaining the canine with a tennis ball while they waited. In the lobby, they played a few rounds of fetch with him and showered him with pets and belly rubs.
However, the dog was already out the door and on his way home when the animal control officers arrived at the station. He wasn’t really lost, as it turned out. He simply wanted to pay a surprise visit to the local law enforcement officers and throw some excitement into their mundane workweek.
His fur parents reported that he arrived safely home that day and that he goes by the name Chico. Chico was welcome to return to the police station, according to the agency and the officers there.
