A Modern-Day Hero: Woman Flies 50 Stray Dogs To UK Amid Pandemic

The coronavirus pandemic has revealed a lot of modern-day heroes. These are the people who are willing to be on the frontline because everyone’s lives are on the line. They are the doctors, nurses, grocery staff, security personnel, and the police force.

But amid the pandemic, there are also people who go out of their way to save the dogs' lives. These heroes look for families that can adopt or provide foster care for dogs. Some of them are making significant amounts of donations, from dog food to basic supplies.

And then there’s someone who flies more than 50 stray dogs to the UK from Cyprus. Her name is Andrea Siddons, a helper from a charity named Dogs 4 Rescue.

From Cyprus to the UK with love

Andrea is a helper who works with the Cyprus Dog Rescue to help deal with the country's problems with stray dogs. Currently, the country has about 200,000 stray dogs and close to two million stray cats.

Andrea was featured on Dogs 4 Rescue’s Facebook page. The post said that Andrea went to extraordinary lengths when she arranged a flight for 50 dogs. The post also revealed that Andrea used her personal money to make the flight happen.

The charity said they were proud of what Andrea did. In another post. Dogs 4 Rescue said that Andrea transformed the dogs with care and love.

Great support from British Airways

The stray dogs were flown from Cyprus to the UK via a British Airways 747 flight. Experienced animal handlers were also assigned to provide the dogs with professional care while flying.

The captain of British Airways and a member of the flight named Paul Walker-Northwood said that they were pleased to provide the mission with support. Mark Andre of Airbridge International Agencies said that they would like to offer special thanks to everyone involved in the arrangement of the flight.
