A Compassionate Woman Comforting A Sick Dog

Hayley Baer is an animal lover, that’s why when she saw a photo of a puppy on the Facebook page of her friend, her heart began to melt.

Majesty was admitted to a veterinary clinic in San Pedro, Belize.

The puppy is a pit bull suffering from parvovirus.

The canine parvovirus (CPV) infection is a highly contagious viral illness that affects dogs.

The virus manifests itself in two different forms. Intestinal and Cardiac.

The more common form is the intestinal form, which is characterized by vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss.

And it may cause a lack of appetite (anorexia).

In it’s most form as it infects the intestinal linings causing malabsorption of food and subsequently loose stools.

In the very young it can also attack the heart muscle causing cardiomyopathy which can be deadly to these pups.

According to the owner of the pooch, when they bought the puppy, the seller told them that it had completed its vaccinations.

However, no proof was shown to them.

Majesty was afflicted by the disease when a parvovirus outbreak happened in Ambergris Caye island.

Many dogs were infected, and Majesty also got sick.

Upon knowing the condition of Majesty, Baer didn’t wait long to get to the vet to be with her.

She immediately went to find the puppy at the vet clinic.

Baer had a bad experience losing her pet Jewel because of that she was very eager to help save Majesty.

According to the veterinary team, the puppy has a 50/50 chance to survive.

That’s why when Baer learned the seriousness of her condition, she decided to stay in the Vet clinic to look after her.

She thought that giving her love would increase the odds of extending Majesty’s life.

The vet staff taught Baer how to handle an IV drip and what to watch for in caring for the pup.

Though she was given a mattress, Baer did not sleep well.

In fact, Baer stayed awake most of the night to check on the condition of the puppy.

Because of this, Majesty was also restless that night, even so, she began to eat and drink.

Perhaps, Majesty felt the love that Baer had shown and spent the night at Baer’s side.

The puppy felt comforted lying next to Baer. The puppy would whine and show her sad eyes any time she went into the kennel.

Luckily, the condition of the puppy improved, and she began to feel a lot better.

Soon she was well enough to return home.

Thanks to the love and nurturing that Baer gave her, the puppy is recovering nicely.
